Hallmarking
All our silver buckles are hallmarked with our Sponsor’s Mark. This is a mark that is stamped by the Assay Offices of Britain as a guarantee of authenticity. The mark consists of four components: The sponsor’s (or manufacturer’s) mark; the standard mark, which denotes the precious metal content of the item; the Assay Office Mark (Assay Offices are found in London, Birmingham, Sheffield and Edinburgh) and the date letter which shows the year in which the article was hallmarked.

Sterling Silver is an alloy of silver and other metals. Sterling silver is 925 parts per thousand silver with the remaining 75 parts being other metals, usually copper. As pure silver (99.9%) is generally too soft for manufacturing into larger objects and for everyday wear, copper is used to give it strength while at the same time preserving the ductility of the metal and its beauty.
